The purpose of the role is project manage the delivery of multiple road infrastructure projects by providing extensive technical expertise, administering contracts and providing support to the design, construction and maintenance processes.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved.
• Act as the superintendent in the administration of nominated contracts and undertake reviews of contract documents, analyse offers, programming preconstruction, construction, and maintenance activities.
• Determine the engineering requirements, including materials, critical components and systems, involved in supporting project management and delivery.
• Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
• Ensure all quality management procedures are adhered to in order to facilitate the delivery of road projects to a high and consistent standard for both Transport and Main Roads and clients.
• Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to transport infrastructure delivery activities.
• In managing projects, you will have the responsibility to plan, assign, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff that would include encouraging teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence acceptable to the delegate, which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Requirements of the role:
• Project Management: Applies project management principles and methodology to achieve project outcomes.
• Planning & Design: You can use your technical expertise in applying engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of infrastructure projects and the development of specifications and standards.
• Construction and Maintenance: You can use your technical expertise in the application of specifications, standards and practices to the management of construction and maintenance projects and processes.
• Manages internal & external relationships: Actively works to understand customers and stakeholders & works collaboratively with others.
• Works flexibly without supervision: effectively manages new and unexpected events, and demonstrates judgement about when to escalate issues).
