Technical Manager

The Digital Systems & Solutions teams deliver a range of business-focused IT digital services, including systems development, support, maintenance, data platform management and support, systems administration. In this role, you will lead and manage the systems support team, overseeing both ongoing operational and project-based work.
You will also apply your technical expertise to support and enhance business applications and IT services. This includes implementing systems development, support and processes for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to enable performance measurement and meet departmental reporting requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage the operations of the technical teams supporting departmental business systems and data platform
  • Ensure IT service management is highly client focused and aligned with ITIL practices and supports continual improvement
  • Lead the technical design and delivery of changes and updates to business systems, applications, and the provision of operational, tactical and strategic reporting capabilities to departmental stakeholders
  • Lead the team in the provision of technical work required to ensure high availability and performance of enterprise data platform, business applications and supporting technologies
  • Design, develop and implement mechanisms for collecting, presenting, analysing, interpreting and reporting on departmental service outcomes to support decision making and promote public accountability
  • Consult with business stakeholders to understand technology and information management requirements and provide advice and outcomes aligned with operational strategies and ICT policies
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for new technology solutions and system enhancements that support the Departments current and future business needs
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers and IT Service providers

About You

  • Technical/role specific - Expert knowledge of operational, tactical, strategic, development and data warehousing related technologies, including ASP.Net (C#), SQL Server and Snowflakes
  • Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary technical team including the ability to prioritise and escalate critical operational tasks, execute project work plans and revise as appropriate
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and impacts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven negotiation, consultation, facilitation and written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in the design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise information systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience with IT service operations in ITIL environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience with applications development, support and in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices
