Help shape Queensland’s water future as a Senior Policy Officer (AO6) with the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers. Working within the Strategic Policy and Partnerships Branch, you will lead complex policy and legislative reform, provide clear and authoritative advice on priority water issues, and contribute to high-level briefings and Cabinet processes.

You’ll collaborate across government, industry and the community to deliver system-level reform and meaningful outcomes for Queensland, within a flexible and supportive work environment. Multiple positions available.

The Role
Working within the Strategic Policy and Partnerships branch, you will provide strategic policy and project management expertise to deliver key Government priorities. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on complex and emerging issues and contribute to the development and delivery of policy and legislative frameworks that promote the sustainable management of Queensland's water resources.

Key Accountabilities:
Research and analyse water policy issues to inform best-practice stewardship of Queensland's finite water resources.
Prepare clear, authoritative advice on water policy and regulatory matters, identifying improvements to optimise sustainable outcomes.
Contribute to complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, drafting instructions, Cabinet and parliamentary documents, presentations and correspondence for senior decision-makers.
Support communication strategies by preparing information sheets, presentations and other materials.
Collaborate across government, industry and non-government organisations to achieve policy outcomes and deliver commitments.
Represent the department at meetings, committees and interdepartmental working groups as required.
Exercise sound judgement to manage competing priorities in sensitive, commercially confidential environments.

About You:
Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality policy advice in complex or fastpaced environments.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex issues into clear, actionable advice.
Excellent written and verbal communication; effective stakeholder engagement.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and contribute to multiple projects within deadlines.
Collaborative mindset with a commitment to public sector values, integrity and good governance.
Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in natural resource management, environmental science/management or environmental law are highly regarded.
