The Senior Program Officer for Economic Participation supports the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and/or projects that support economic participation outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout Queensland.
This role is part of a dedicated team of policy professionals and is ideally suited for a person keen to collaborate with first nations peoples and broader stakeholders to support the delivery of economic opportunities across the State.

About the department:
The Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism is responsible for fostering an environment that allows Queensland women to be economically secure. We work closely with other agencies, peak bodies, local leaders, and the community to lift the living standards of Aboriginal communities and Torres Strait Islander communities. We facilitate an environment where multicultural communities want to call Queensland home by harnessing their skill and expertise and celebrating the cultural diversity of our State.
About the team:
Economic Participation Program team strengthens economic participation by expanding employment and training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, supporting the growth of the Indigenous business sector and increasing government and industry procurement from Indigenous enterprises.
What we are looking for:
- The ability to interpret and translate legislation, policy and strategic frameworks into practical advice and outcomes.
- Experience using contemporary CRMs to support reporting of operational and strategic objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Experience in developing briefs and reports.
- Experience in supporting outcomes for first nations peoples.
Highly desirable is experience in a position supporting the delivery of strong quantitative and qualitative analysis and economic participation centred programs, projects and/or policy development.
