Police Air Operations (POLAIR) provides the Queensland Police Service with an airborne law enforcement capability to support frontline policing operations. An AO5 Intelligence Specialist is required to work as part of a small dynamic team reporting to the Operations Coordinator, Police Air Operations. The role will be responsible for compiling and analysing intelligence from a range of sources to develop tactical assessments and intelligence products to assist with the safe, effective and efficient deployment of POLAIR assets across Queensland.

Police Air Operations (POLAIR) provides the Queensland Police Service with an airborne law enforcement capability to support frontline policing operations. An AO5 Intelligence Specialist is required to work as part of a small dynamic team reporting to the Operations Coordinator, Police Air Operations. The role will be responsible for compiling and analysing intelligence from a range of sources to develop tactical assessments and intelligence products to assist with the safe, effective and efficient deployment of POLAIR assets across Queensland.

Your key accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Provide direction and assist in driving the QPS Strategic Plan through the provision of intelligence services to Commands and Regions in the assessment of problem places, cases and issues.
  • Provide high level analytical advice and support to QPS officers in relation to targeting strategies.
  • Plan and prepare complex intelligence assessments in relation to crime and other community safety matters utilising accepted intelligence processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective networks within the QPS and with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement effective work practices with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • A knowledge of online intelligence collection techniques will be highly regarded.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 1.
  • The successful applicant/s must undertake intelligence training delivered by the Queensland Police Service in line with current policy.
  • Successful applicants will be required to comply with and complete all QPS, external provider and CASA requirements, including Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) testing.
  • Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position, they may be exposed to aviation related noise and smells due to the workplace being located at an operational aircraft hangar.
