NOTE - there are 2 permanent positions available. One is located in Ipswich, one in Toowoomba.

The Contract Officer supports the implementation of the contract lifecycle from contract set-up to contract close-out. The type of contracts that are delivered in these roles are for a range of activities undertaken by the department, including but not limited to: negotiating contracts, service meetings with providers, assessments of service performance, licensing site inspections with Child Safety Residential Care Providers and Foster and Kinship Care providers.

Your mandatory requirements

• Ability to undertake travel including visits to remote communities.
• Possession of a current “C” Class Driver's Licence.

Desirable requirements

• We value relevant experience, tertiary qualification or formal procurement, purchasing and/or contract management accreditation (i.e. Queensland Purchasing, QGCPO, CIPS or similar).

The South West Region services both urban, regional, rural and remote locations and the requirement to travel long distances (with possible overnight or multi-nights way from home) may be a requirement of this position.

As a Contract Officer you will:

• Establishing, negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers within the Queensland Government contract management framework, and human services environment.
• Building and maintaining productive and respectful working relationships with diverse suppliers, including First Nations Suppliers, and key stakeholders within and across government and the broader human and community services networks.
• Providing advice and information to suppliers and departmental staff regarding investment specifications, quality assurance systems, program guidelines and accountability requirements.
• Monitoring service delivery by suppliers and/or licensed organisations to ensure compliance with contracts, program guidelines, legislation and other departmental requirements.
• Undertaking monitoring of individual care services covered by a licence, including site inspections, to ensure that organisations funded to provide out-of-home care (family and non-family based) are meeting, and continue to meet, legislated requirements.
• Identify, monitor and implement corrective and continuous improvement actions to improve supplier performance and recognise when issues need to be escalated.
• Negotiating renewal, variations and ending of contracts with suppliers.
• Working collaboratively with key internal business areas to ensure value for money, quality of service delivery, transparent and accountability business practices and positive relationships with industry partnerships and the community services sector.
• Contributing to or preparing briefs, plans, quotes, correspondence and other departmental reports in a timely and professional manner, consistent with departmental guidelines.
• Utilising tools and financial systems to analyse and interpret a wide variety of supplier and performance related information to drive better outcomes.
• Contributing to a professional environment through a personal commitment to, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
• Professionally representing the department at forums with key stakeholders and suppliers.
