This role will directly and indirectly liaise with coroners, FSG management, internal QPS stakeholders and other government departments.

This is an identified position. It is a genuine occupational requirement that an Identified position be filled by a First Nations person as permitted by and arguable under Section 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991). It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. One of the referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.

Your Key Accountabilities:

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Lead and develop the delivery of innovative engagement and communication strategies to promote culturally sensitive coronial investigations.
  • Provide advice and expert guidance to senior management and workgroups on a broad range of First Nations and multicultural coronial investigations matters.
  • Design and implement effective first nations and multicultural coronial investigation strategies, practices and processes in response to evidence-based issues impacting First Nations and multicultural coronial investigations.
  • Lead and develop partnerships internally and with coronial system partner to ensure greater relationships for the benefit of First Nations and Multicultural people impacted by deaths.
  • Develop and drive First Nations and multi-cultural coronial investigation education and training within the Queensland Police Service.
  • Prepare and deliver a range of written material including high-level reports, submissions, business cases, executive briefs and reports relating to First Nations and multicultural coronial investigations.
  • Identify and monitor emerging trends and issues relating to First Nations and multicultural coronial investigations and provide expert strategic advice regarding First Nations and multicultural death investigation education and training products to ensure authentic learning.
  • Mentor and foster career guidance to First Nations members of the Queensland Police Service.

Role Requirements:

Mandatory

  • This is an identified position. It is a genuine occupational requirement that an Identified position be filled by a First Nations person as permitted by, and arguable under Section 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).

Qualification

  • Possession of skills and experience in an accredited tertiary qualification in adult education would be highly regarded.

  • May be required to travel.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.
  • Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they will be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
