The Role
You will be part of a connected and engaged team of professionals who support and value each other to achieve great things. You will be managing a small team supporting the water supply security planning for South East Queensland. You will also help support water service providers across Queensland to provide reliable drinking water supplies through the waterwise program and water supply monitoring. Operating from within SEQ Water Security team you will be lead and provide advice on projects to help safeguard future urban water supplies. You will provide advice on complex urban water security matters and engage with stakeholders on projects that support reliable water supplies in SEQ.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage the provision of expert, authoritative advice to senior management on complex operational and policy issues relating to urban water supply security.
- Manage and oversee projects, including collaboration with water service providers and development of supporting materials such as guidelines and waterwise resources.
- Deliver and manage priority government projects to meet departmental and broader government objectives.
- Exercise judgement, authority and influence to coordinate competing priorities and divisional requirements.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with colleagues, councils, water service providers, other levels of government, industry and non‑government organisations.
- Represent the department's vision, values and strategic agenda with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide strategic and professional leadership to develop and manage a highperforming team.
About You
- Experience in the water sector is highly regarded, particularly in urban water supply, water service provision or water security planning.
- Demonstrated capability in leading people, managing projects and influencing outcomes in complex environments.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in PowerBI and Excel is well regarded.
- A degree in science, engineering or a related discipline would be well regarded.
- Occasional travel may be required, including travel outside normal office hours or overnight stays.
