About the Role

As the Manager Legal Services, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a capable team providing expert, timely and practical legal advice across QLeave's legislative and governance functions.
  • Manage legal, compliance and governance functions including Right to Information, Information Privacy, delegations, and insurances.
  • Oversee agreements and memoranda of understanding with other jurisdictions and government entities.
  • Provide authoritative and influential advice to the Executive and Board on legislative interpretation, compliance frameworks, and policy reform.
  • Represent QLeave in court-related matters and manage relationships with external legal providers.
  • Influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across government, industry and other jurisdictions to ensure policy alignment and shared outcomes.

This position reports to the Director Legal and Review and leads a multidisciplinary team of five, including legal practitioners and procurement professionals.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong legal expertise with the ability to research, interpret, and apply complex legislation and policy.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice.
  • A track record of providing strategic legal leadership and building trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing legal services in a government, statutory, or corporate environment.
  • The confidence to provide sound advice under pressure, balancing legal precision with organisational pragmatism.
  • A genuine commitment to integrity, accountability, and service excellence.

A commitment to QLeave's values and the principles of the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld).

You must be admitted, or eligible for admission, as a Solicitor or Barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

A minimum of five years post-admission experience is preferred.
