What you will be doing:
- Leading multiple projects and areas of work under direction of the Queensland Government Architect.
- Provide design leadership across whole of government urban policy, precinct planning and major project pipelines, shaping Queensland's long-term urban legacy.
- Act as a trusted strategic adviser to senior executives and Ministers on architecture, urban design and city shaping initiatives, including Brisbane 2032 legacy precincts and state significant projects.
- Champion design excellence and lead design advocacy activities such as design reviews, forums, awards and publications that raise the profile of good design across Queensland.
- Work on a curated portfolio of complex, city-shaping projects across housing, health, education, transport, cultural and public realm sectors, rather than a single-agency workload.
- Shape early-stage visioning, master planning and briefing to embed high-quality urban design outcomes before projects enter procurement and delivery.
- Contribute to key policy instruments such as regional plans, design frameworks and guidelines that influence private as well as public development outcomes
- Access to ongoing professional development, including conferences, targeted training and professional memberships relevant to architecture and urban design leadership.
- Support for continued professional registration and engagement in professional bodies (e.g. RAIA, AILA, PIA) where relevant.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to government
- Lead the design review of a broad range of infrastructure projects as well as government and private sector projects and communicate outcomes with clarity and sensitivity.
