The Opportunity
This pivotal leadership role offers the opportunity to lead the next phase of evolution for QLeave's Finance and Investment Services function. Strong foundations, capable systems and an experienced team are already in place; the focus now is on maturing capability, strengthening leadership capacity, and optimising how finance, investment governance and procurement support organisational performance.
With responsibility for an investment portfolio exceeding $2 billion, the Director will provide strategic oversight of financial sustainability, investment governance and procurement excellence. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will partner closely with the Board and senior stakeholders, providing trusted financial insight, confidence in reporting, and a strong service ethic to support sound decision-making. This role offers genuine scope for a capable senior finance leader to broaden their leadership footprint and influence at enterprise level.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction and ongoing maturity of QLeave's Finance and Investment Services function.
- Provide executive-level financial and commercial advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Board.
- Oversee governance of an investment portfolio exceeding $2 billion.
- Strengthen investment oversight and the relationship with external investment managers.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
- Oversee procurement and supplier management functions.
In the first 12 months, the focus will be on maturing finance and investment capability, strengthening investment oversight and Board reporting, optimising procurement and debt recovery processes, and supporting the continued development and performance of the finance leadership team.
About You
You are a senior finance and investment leader with experience operating in complex or regulated environments, ideally within state government or a statutory authority. You bring strong literacy in government financial frameworks, accountability requirements and Board reporting expectations, and understand how to operate effectively within these constraints.
You are equally comfortable providing strategic advice as you are guiding operational improvement, and you bring the gravitas, judgement and service ethic required to engage confidently with Boards, executives and external partners. This role will suit either an experienced Director or a high-performing senior finance leader ready to step into broader executive leadership.
Why This Role Is Exciting
This is a rare opportunity to lead a substantial finance and investment portfolio within a purpose-driven statutory authority, while shaping the next stage of maturity for an already established function. The role offers significant Board exposure, meaningful Executive influence and the chance to leave a tangible legacy within a values-driven and flexible working environment.
