OO5 Resource Ranger - Ingham or Cardwell
Ever wanted a job where your office has rainforest views, muddy boots are a badge of honour, and your work genuinely protects some of Queensland's most incredible places? Welcome to life as an OO5 Resource Ranger.
Rangers play a vital role in ensuring Queensland's national parks, state forests and reserves are protected, accessible and valued by all Queenslanders. From lush rainforests to coastal parks and rugged bushland, you'll be working across landscapes that matter—ecologically, culturally and socially.
This is not a desk-bound role. Rangers are practical, adaptable and ready for anything. Working under legislation including the Nature Conservation Act 1992, Recreation Areas Management Act 2006, Marine Parks Act 2004, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975 and Forestry Act 1959, you'll partner with local communities, Traditional Owners, adjoining landholders and stakeholders to deliver conservation, recreation and land management outcomes on the ground.
Variety is guaranteed. Depending on operational needs, you may work across five key focus areas: Pest Management, Fire Management, Estate Management, Visitor Management, and Assets and Safety. One day you might be monitoring threatened species, the next helping plan fire operations, maintaining park assets, responding to issues in the field or supporting visitor safety. Rangers are hands-on problem solvers who turn their hand to a wide range of tasks that can be safely undertaken by non-tradespersons.
Based in Ingham or Cardwell, this OO5 Resource Ranger role supports the Senior Ranger and Technical Services Team to plan and deliver work programs addressing threatened species conservation, pest and fire management, and National Park Management Plan development. You'll work closely with technical specialists and stakeholders to help translate regional and state Natural Resource Objectives into real, on-ground results.
We're looking for someone who thrives outdoors, enjoys responsibility and can work confidently both independently and as part of a team—sometimes remotely, sometimes collaboratively. You'll bring a strong background in threatened species management, along with experience in fire management and bushfire response, or the ability to quickly build those skills. You'll be organised, flexible, self-motivated and ready to adapt as conditions change.
In return, you'll join a passionate ranger workforce, gain experience across diverse land management activities, and play a direct role in protecting Queensland's natural and cultural values for future generations.
If you're ready for meaningful work, epic landscapes and a role where no two days are the same—lace up your boots. Ranger life is calling
