Water Officer

Join our Water Entitlement Dealings team in Warwick and help manage water access across the Queensland Murray–Darling Basin. In this front‑facing role, you’ll respond to client enquiries, support technical assessments, maintain key water management systems and contribute to sound decision‑making under water legislation. You’ll work closely with a small, supportive team, using your attention to detail, organisation and systems capability to keep workflows moving and deliver quality service to our stakeholders. This AO3 role offers the chance to build strong technical knowledge, develop transferable skills and contribute to sustainable water-resource management across Queensland.

The Role:
You will be a member of a team managing water entitlements and access to water from the Warwick centre and providing support and assistance to a larger team across the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin catchments.
Key Accountabilities:
• Respond to client enquiries (verbal and written) on water entitlements, water access and water accounting using departmental information systems.
• Work as part of a team dealing with water entitlements and managing access to water, including new applications, amendments, transfers and water accounting.
• Apply policy and procedure to make decisions in accordance with delegated authority under water‑related legislation.
• Monitor timelines for application assessments to meet customer service standards.
• Maintain systems for registration of drill logs, water entitlements and related dealings including works and water usage.
• Maintain document‑management systems in line with departmental requirements.
• Provide administrative support to the Warwick team including central email accounts, travel arrangements and building/vehicle management.
• Other duties as required.
About You:
You are organised, detail‑focused and able to work with minimal supervision in a small team environment. You listen actively, build positive working relationships and demonstrate persistence when navigating challenges. You show respect for policy and legislative frameworks and contribute to a healthy and inclusive workplace.
Experience using the Water Management System (WMS), Queensland Globe and Microsoft 365 is desirable. A C‑class driver licence and willingness to travel are beneficial.
