About you:
As a Manager within the Waste policy and Legislation team in the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling Branch, you will play a key role in implementing Queensland's Waste Strategy.
The strategy directs initiatives that support less landfill, increased recycling and will support new jobs, innovation and growth in the waste management sector to protect the environment. You will be required to lead stakeholder engagement and consultation, including with industry and community groups as well as other areas of government at all levels.
You will benefit from having industry and regulatory policy experience either within government or the private sector. Your work will focus on the development of policy
initiatives; guidance material; legislative amendments; policy analysis; advocacy that support the objectives of the Waste Strategy.
You will also contribute to design and evaluation of initiatives and programs that support the government's overall waste management agenda including co-funding of
projects and strategic partnerships that focus on priority wastes including but not limited to plastic, organics, batteries and tyres and other resource materials to
reduce the impact of waste on the environment. Your role will also oversee product stewardship schemes including routine assessment of their performance against
legislative obligations. You will be required to lead a team to deliver on a broad remit of waste reforms, ensuring high quality and timely briefing materials are prepared for Senior Executives, Director-General and Minister, including the preparation of cabinet submission.
You will represent the department through technical and jurisdictional working groups to advocate for national harmonisation on key areas of waste reform policy, including providing presentation of the work or representation on panels. This position also has requirement for some travel with overnight stays as required.
