As an Injury Management Specialist, you will be providing specialised injury management services for complex physical and psychological cases using a biopsychosocial approach, in line with Queensland Police Service policies and relevant legislation.

You will offer expert advice on best practice vocational injury management, ensuring safe return-to-work practices. Additionally, you will support the Injury Management team, develop and deliver targeted strategies and training, and prepare briefings for Executive Management.

Your key accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

• Provide specialised injury management services for physical and psychological cases of a complex nature, utilising a biopsychosocial approach and in accordance with Queensland Police Service policies, procedures, industrial instruments and relevant legislation including the Workers‘ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
• Apply expert knowledge and professional advice with a focus on best practice vocational injury management, adhering to safe and sustainable return work practices.
• Provide advice, strategic guidance and support to the Injury Management team, in accordance with the quality assurance principles.
• Build strategic capability through development and delivery of targeted injury management, rehabilitation and return to work, strategies, programs, coaching and training.
• Prepare and review briefings for Executive Management regarding complex decisions and develop documentation to assist with actions under relevant industrial instruments, including the Police Service Administration Act 1990 and Public Service Act 2008.
• Perform injury management case auditing and overall evaluation, to support continual improvement of internal processes and identify opportunities for external stakeholder engagement to improve outcomes and return injured members to optimal health.

Role Requirements

Mandatory

• Currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and/or current membership of the relevant professional association.

Qualification

• Qualifications in a medical or allied health related discipline (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Exercise Physiology or other related health discipline).

Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience

• Previous demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: injury management, workplace rehabilitation, allied health, or a position with a strong return to work focus.

Other

• Current driver's licence is desirable as some intrastate travel may be required.
