The Opportunity

As a Principal Investigator, you will be a key member of QLeave's Contract Cleaning Industry Surveillance Team. Your role will focus on compliance and surveillance activities, as well as investigations into alleged offences under the Contract Cleaning Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2005.

You may also work on matters related to the Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 1991 and the Community Services Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2020.

Key Capabilities and Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Provide expert leadership, guidance, and support to a small team of investigators and an intelligence officer in conducting high-quality compliance and investigation activities.
  • Mentor and coach team members in addressing legislative breaches, ensuring consistent and proportionate responses in collaboration with internal business units.
  • Investigate alleged breaches, including planning, evidence gathering, surveillance, compliance activities, and preparing cases for referral to the Enforcement Team.
  • Monitor and analyse data to support the management of the contract cleaning industry and exercise authorised officer powers under relevant legislation, including the Contract Cleaning Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2005. Conduct high-level research and prepare reports for senior leadership, identify emerging compliance trends, and provide accurate advice on portable long service leave matters to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to voluntary compliance initiatives and stakeholder education programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement of team strategies, plans, and procedures, ensuring program effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry, and the community, to promote compliance and program support.
  • Manage the business unit budget responsibly and ensure records are maintained in line with policy and legislation.

What We're Looking For

You will be successful in this role if you can demonstrate your ability to:

  • apply highly developed compliance, investigation, analytical and evidence gathering experience, knowledge and skills.
  • analyse, interpret and apply legislation in a regulatory environment and how your experience is transferrable to acquiring knowledge of the Contract Cleaning Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2005.
  • high level verbal and written communication skills, negotiation and influence skills to effectively communicate and resolve disputes, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • lead high performing teams, mentor and coach investigators to develop capability, lead field/site inspections, support others and improve efficiencies through effective planning, allocation and monitoring resources to achieved desired outcomes.
  • display flexibility, resilience and proven ability to advance an organisational culture that values performance, innovation, continuous improvement and best practice outcomes.

Intrastate and overnight travel is required.

Applicants must have a ‘C' class licence.

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role, however, a Certificate IV in Government Investigations, Diploma of Government (Investigation), Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Justice or similar qualification would be highly regarded.

It is desirable to have previous experience in investigation management, investigations, brief management and providing oral evidence in court.
