The purpose of the Manager (Human Resources) is to lead and manage the delivery of services in all areas of Human Resources (HR) across the Rail Division.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Strategic and Operational HR Advice: Deliver high-level strategic and operational HR/IR advice and support to divisional leadership, management, and staff, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards, directives, and policies, while addressing complex workforce challenges.
• Promoting High Standards of HR Practice: Develop and implement robust systems, processes, and reporting mechanisms to ensure consistent and effective workforce management across the division, promoting a culture of professional HR practice.
• Expert Management of Complex People Matters: Provide expert advice, oversight, and management of complex and sensitive people management matters, including disciplinary actions, performance management, complaints, and investigations, in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Workforce Planning and Capability Development: Drive strategic and operational workforce initiatives, including workforce planning and change management, to enhance capability, performance, and alignment with divisional and departmental business outcomes.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Problem-Solving: Build and maintain strategic, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective HR practices, while applying high-level analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve HR matters and address workforce issues across the division.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Criminal history screening will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Requirements of the role
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• A tertiary qualification in HR or a similar discipline would be highly regarded.
• At least 5 years' experience in an operational / generalist HR advisory focused role with demonstrated knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures.
• Experience in leading and managing a team of HR professionals, ensuring continuous improvement and excellence in service delivery.
• Managing complex HR matters and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and strategic insight to lead the HR function effectively, ensuring decisions are ethical, courageous, and aligned with the broader organisational purpose and priorities.
