We do this by:
• Making sure electrical safety laws and standards are followed.
• Managing workers' and contractors’ electrical licenses.
• Registering, accrediting and certifying electrical equipment.
• Providing electrical safety information, education and training including electrical product recalls and safety alerts.

A vacancy currently exists in our Field Services team for an Electrical Safety Manager of the Brisbane Region. This position can be located at either our Brendale, Newstead or Mt Gravatt office. Prior experience as an inspector is not essential.

OIR contributes to the government's strategic objectives in the areas of workplace health and safety, electrical safety, workers' compensation, industrial relations and labour hire regulation.

We seek to improve work health and safety, electrical safety and workers' compensation performance through regulatory and policy frameworks and the provision of evidenced-based services and advice. We also develop, implement and maintain policy and legislation relevant to industrial relations in Queensland including whole of Government responsibility for public sector enterprise bargaining and the regulation of Queensland's labour hire industry.

As an Electrical Safety Manager within the Electrical Safety Office, you will be part of an efficient flexible and responsive team that strives for to keep all Queenslanders safe around electricity.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of the team(s) over which you have responsibility. This includes ensuring you and your team members are aware of and observing their responsibilities and obligations including under relevant OIR HSW policies and procedures.
• Lead and manage group performance by providing operational and strategic direction to support the achievement of organisational and team objectives.
• Manage the delivery of statutory and regulatory functions, including targeted enforcement and the investigation and prosecution of offences under the Electrical Safety Regulations 2013.

To be successful in this role you will need to:
• Demonstrate high level skills and experience in leading and managing teams of professional, technical staff to achieve operational objectives and outcomes in a complex, high pressure and constantly changing environment.
• Display flexibility, resilience, and proven ability to advance an organisational culture that values performance, continuous improvement, and service delivery excellence.
• Proven ability to communicate with influence (both orally and in writing) in resolving complex disputes, liaising, and consulting with internal and external stakeholders, representing ESO at high level meetings and forums, and preparing timely and accurate correspondence, briefs and reports.
• Record of achievement in developing and maintaining relationships and networks with government and industry and the wider community to identify contentious and emerging needs, develop initiatives and promote engagement in electrical safety initiatives.
• Demonstrate experience in delivering services within a regulatory environment and a commitment to personal and professional development.
