The Opportunity
As our Principal Media and Content Officer, you will:
• Support the Media and Content Manager in providing general media and communication advice to stakeholders to maximise reach across departmental, media and industry channels.
• Anticipate, identify and analyse major/sensitive/political issues before they arise and prepare appropriate media responses or strategies for senior stakeholders.
Liaise with the Minister's Office on proactive and reactive media opportunities as required.
• Coordinate and oversee the Communications and Engagement team's digital output and strategy, including social media and newsletters, to support and amplify media and communication activities.
• Develop, manage and evaluate integrated digital and media communication strategies, with digital channels supporting broader communication objectives, for specific projects and business programs.
• Research, write, edit and coordinate compelling media and communication content, including media materials and social media using imagery, infographics and videography.
• Develop partnerships and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry, media and community.
• Liaise with the wider Communication and Engagement team on content matters relating to specific projects, campaigns and emerging issues.
• Generate reports on media coverage reports, with supporting analysis of social media and digital performance, for specific issues or business areas, and share insights with communication and engagement colleagues and stakeholders.
• Research, analyse and interpret current and emerging trends in media, with consideration of digital and social media channels, to continuously improve how we communicate and engage with stakeholders.
• Have an oversight of media and digital governance, and ensure deliverables are on time and within budget.
• Manage day-to-day workflow and priorities for media activities and provide guidance and supervision to staff members to support the delivery of agreed outcomes.
• Participate in the weekend on-call media roster.
