Team Leaders in Payroll Services are committed to leading a team to deliver high quality payroll customer services, to support government agencies to deliver their business outcomes.
You will be leading a dynamic, fast-paced and focused business area, delivering an extensive range of payroll processing services and advice.
Your responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
• leading a functional team to deliver ‘best practice' payroll services to customer agencies, ensuring high-quality service and compliance with legislative and regulatory standards
• developing and implementing operational team procedures and performance measures to achieve strategic objectives while adhering to established service level agreements and budget constraints
• develop and managing team workflow delegation methods to optimise performance, monitor workflow volumes, maintain internal controls, and ensure high standards of accuracy and efficiency
• analysing and interpreting modern HR trends and developments to provide advice and feedback to QSS management and business areas on potential new business initiatives and the needs of customer agencies
• encouraging and cultivating an innovative, high-performance work culture by mentoring and motivating team members through professional development plans and skill enhancement programs to drive continuous improvement, personal growth, and build a resilient and capable workforce
• providing specialised expert advice to senior management, stakeholders, and customer agency contacts on service delivery activities in accordance with legislation, standards, policies and directives, ensuring informed decision-making and demonstrated accountability
• fostering collaborative relationships with team leaders and team members across the business to ensure cohesive operations and effective resource planning by sharing valuable information and constructive feedback
• developing and implementing process improvement and optimisation plans that continuously review and measure process changes to achieve increased operational efficiency and team productivity
• identifying and analysing sensitive issues and obstacles to develop creative solutions and prompt actions, ensuring uninterrupted workflow and the achievement of business objectives
About you
We are searching for someone with:
• proven track record in Payroll and/or HR functions with significant leadership and supervisory experience, and the ability to adapt effectively to business changes in a fast-paced, challenging environment with tight to non-negotiable deadlines
• ability to inspire and motivate the team to achieve objectives and maintain positivity under pressure, while continuously reviewing and influencing programs of work to identify and implement opportunities for improvement aligned with organisational goals
• ability to model open and effective communication, including active listening, to foster thoughtful interactions with internal and external stakeholders, and negotiate
effectively to meet stakeholder expectations and achieve mutually satisfactory outcomes
• proven ability to set and review priorities, apply strong organisational skills to meet deadlines, report progress to various stakeholders, and manage potential delays while adapting effectively to unforeseen circumstances
• personal drive and integrity, with a commitment to personal development and alignment with organisational objectives, while contributing to a fair and safe work
environment through adherence to human resource management practices including workplace health and safety, employment equity, anti-discrimination, and performance management.
