The Role:
Ready to lead operations that make a real difference? QGAir is seeking an exceptional aviation leader to oversee our rotary wing operations. In this critical role, you will lead and inspire a high-performing team, ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance and drive operational excellence across all rotary wing activities.
As a key member of our aviation leadership team, you will help shape the QGAir strategic direction while supporting life-saving aeromedical, search and rescue and emergency response missions across Queensland. This is your chance to combine strategic influence with real-world impact leading an operation that serves communities when they need it most.
This is a full-time 3-year contract position. Whilst the position is currently based in Brisbane, we are also accepting applications from individuals interested in being based in Cairns or Townsville. The final location - Brisbane, Cairns or Townsville will be determined through negotiation with the successful candidate.

What We're Looking For:
Mandatory requirements:
- Hold a current Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)
- Low Level Rating
- Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Rating
- Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating - 5 Renewals
- Minimum 2500 hours total time
- Minimum 1500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) Helicopter
- Minimum 500 hours Night PIC Helicopter
- Minimum 1500 hours Multi-Engine PIC Helicopter
- Minimum 1200 hours Turbine Helicopter
- Minimum 100 hours NVIS Operations
- Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical
- A comprehensive understanding of CASR 1998 Part 119, 133 and Part 138 and strong track record of operating compliantly and leading a workforce in that environment.
Special Conditions:
Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.
In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.
Following appointment to the role, ongoing employment will be subject to the successful candidate securing and maintaining formal approval from CASA to hold the position of HOFO for the organisations AOC.
The preferred applicant will be required to undertake temporary touring duties at any base operated by the Aviation Capability Group.
