The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) is an independent statutory body with powers under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) (RTI Act) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act) to promote and regulate access to government held information and protect people's personal information held by the public sector.

Our purpose, as a contemporary regulator, is to promote and independently uphold information access and privacy rights.  We facilitate greater and easier public access to government held information and assist agencies understand their obligations under the IP Act to safeguard the personal information that they hold. Our office reviews agency decisions about access to information, mediates privacy complaints, and monitors and reports on agency compliance to Parliament.

About the Role

The Right to Information Group manages a caseload of external review applications relating to information access applications. 

As a Review Officer, you will assess the merits of both routine and complex applications, managing a case load with limited supervision, engaging with review participants to explore opportunities for informal resolution and preparing clear and concise reasons for decision where informal resolution cannot be achieved.  This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively, contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives, and help ensure decisions are made in the public interest.
