The Principal HR Business Partner is a key role within the HRBP team as we transition towards a new way of working with our stakeholders across the agency. You will lead the team to explore and implement contemporary HR initiatives, undertake strategic workforce planning, introduce new ways of working, and bring to the role a myriad of HR practitioner skillsets and experiences.
You will work collaboratively with your colleagues and clients across the Department to explore and implement new HR initiatives, including coaching on positive performance management, succession management, managing grievances from end to end, and moving from transactional HR to strategic business partnering.
You currently have three direct reports however, this may change over time as we move towards a new way of working.
About you:
You're motivated and open to undertaking a role where no two days are the same. You will have experience in case management and HR contemporary practices. You will be open to challenges and also see through matters/projects to completion. You will have on-the-job experience and also be open with sharing your knowledge and ideas. You are a team player and are comfortable working in an environment of some change and transition and leading from the front when required.

About the role
As our Principal HR Business Partner, you will:
- Lead strategic and capability development initiatives and provide specialist human resources (HR) knowledge and skills in the areas of career development, performance, diversity and inclusion, establishment management and analytics, employee relations, safety, wellbeing and injury management.
- Lead a team of HR Business Partners (individual contributors) to deliver high quality HR services, workforce and workplace culture initiatives.
- Provide strategic HR advice to senior executives and managers to design, develop and engage stakeholders to build a contemporary workforce.
- Provide independent HR analysis and advice and contribute to the evaluation of human resources services and initiatives to ensure these are directed to supporting business outcomes.
- Be a liaison point within People and Culture for human resource management activities to ensure that the development and implementation of related policies, programs and services meet business requirements.
- Lead strategies to enhance the department's capability and capacity to improve service quality and responsiveness to customers.
- Prepare accurate, timely and relevant workforce reports, business cases, submissions, briefings and correspondence.
- Contribute to and participate in a range of HR Business Partnering and broader People and Culture team agendas including selection panels, team meetings, HR leadership sessions, strategic and business planning.
