Working within Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP), Fisheries Queensland you will be involved and will be required to manage and coordinate district compliance services delivered by the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol. You will also be required to oversee the operations of multiple patrol districts within the Cluster.
The QBFP enforces fisheries and boating safety laws through surveillance, investigation and inspection, as well as undertaking related education with industry and community groups. State legislation includes the Fisheries Act 1994, Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 1994 and Marine Parks Act 2004 while Commonwealth legislation includes the Fisheries Management Act 1991 and Great Barrier Reef Marine Parks Act 1975.

• Manage, direct and coordinate the operational activities, staff and resources aligned to QBFP for efficient and effective delivery of a maritime safety and fisheries compliance programs within your Cluster.
• Oversee cluster operations for the delivery of a fisheries and maritime safety compliance programs.
• Provide expert and timely advice to the Fisheries Management on regional issues relevant to the commercial, recreational and indigenous fishing sectors and maritime industries, and maintain a comprehensive awareness of industry and community needs.
• Maintain effective consultation and liaison with industry organisations (fisheries and marine), relevant statutory authorities, Government departments/local authorities, community groups and keep Fisheries Management informed of such actions and all other issues affecting Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol operations in the relevant districts.
• Manage and deploy the assets, budget and related financial expenditure of to achieve program outcomes.
• Plan and negotiate workforce requirements within the relevant districts and supervise the deployment of staff so as to effectively achieve targets and outcomes outlined in compliance plans, at the same time, ensuring the application of all relevant human resource management principles and procedures in accordance with Public Sector Directives and Departmental Corporate Standards.
• Manage the preparation of Fisheries and Maritime Safety reports.
• Analyse resources, community issues and priorities and effectively use information to initiate, monitor, evaluate and report on Cluster projects/activities.
• Develop and maintain a highly skilled responsive and effective workforce in the Cluster and provide relevant training required by field staff.
• Contribute to the QBFP activities and work flexibly across Fisheries Queensland, providing assistance with other duties as directed and required.
• This role reports to the Manager (QBFP) and has a varying number of direct nreports.
