Working in the Water Entitlement Dealings, Water Resource Management, operating from within South Region you will be involved and lead the operational delivery of water entitlement and water management activities that contribute to achieving sustainable management and use of the Region's water resources, consistent with Departmental frameworks, policies and priorities, in partnership with stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
• Provide direction, guidance and leadership to others to ensure organizational goals and business objectives are achieved.
• Apply the provisions of the Water Act 2000 and Planning Act 2016 for the sustainable allocation and management of water.
• Provide high level advice to the Manager, Water Services and the Management Team on project direction, policy application and regional implementation.
• Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of state-wide water planning and water management policies and priorities.
• Lead and manage the water management and use teams and implement water planning projects for regional water resources and systems.
• Develop and implement operational and policy initiatives, including community and client consultation, associated with the sustainable allocation and management of water resources.
• Prepare submissions, briefing notes and contribute to the development of legislation and associated policy, work practices and guidelines, on complex water allocation and management issues.
• Work closely with stakeholders in the areas of water compliance and water management.
About you
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, experience in resource management and administrative decision making would be highly regarded.
• Experience in the use of any information system reporting tools would be highly regarded.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
• A current “C” class driver's licence and be willing to obtain a manual licence if necessary.
