Join the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) as a Manager (Passenger Transport Operations) and make a meaningful impact on the lives of Queenslanders by contributing to the delivery of essential transport services across the state. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within TMR's Regional Operations team, where you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of passenger transport services that connect communities and support Queensland's economic and social development.

This temporary full-time position, classified at the AO6 level, is available until 27 May 2027, with the possibility of extension. The role can be undertaken from any one of the following of TMR's Regional Operations locations, which include Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maryborough/Hervey Bay, Maroochydore, Carseldine, Brisbane City, Bundamba, Toowoomba, Roma and the Gold Coast. This flexibility allows you to work in a location that suits your lifestyle while contributing to TMR's vision of creating connected, sustainable and inclusive communities.

As the Manager (Passenger Transport Operations), you will lead and inspire a team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include managing the Shared Care and Digital Enabling SmartForms teams, overseeing finances, resources and staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality frontline customer service. You will support families and school bus operators, manage complaints and disputes and provide expert advice on legislation, policy and digital application processes.

In this role, you will also play a critical part in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and standards. This includes implementing system controls, providing education and guidance and ensuring the accurate and secure processing of sensitive information. You will manage various aspects of school transport service delivery, contribute to system enhancements and participate in the development and implementation of operational business plans. Your efforts will support statewide workload reporting and ensure the continuity of essential services.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, operators and other agencies will be a key aspect of your role. You will work collaboratively to support digital service delivery and develop innovative transport solutions that meet the needs of Queensland communities. Additionally, you will provide proactive operational support during peak demand periods, service disruptions, or emergency situations, ensuring access to critical services when they are needed most.

To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills, strategic thinking and the ability to build enduring relationships. You will be someone who recognises and articulates how your team's work contributes to TMR's broader vision and community outcomes. You will organise work priorities effectively, provide timely advice and tailor communication to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Encouraging diversity and leveraging the unique contributions of your team members will be key to your success.

All Regional Operations locations will be considered for this position (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maryborough/Hervey Bay, Maroochydore, Carseldine, Brisbane City, Bundamba, Toowoomba, Roma, Southport), please indicate your location preference for this role on your application.
