As a Senior Ranger on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), you will be caring for National Parks and Recreation Areas on land owned by the Quandamooka People that are jointly managed by Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS).
The primary focus is to provide leadership for the North Stradbroke Island management unit within the Moreton Bay Area of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) field operations.

In this role, you'll play a key role in driving the protection of one of our most wonderful places.
Working closely with the Manager and Ranger-in-Charge and the Joint Management Coordinator for QYAC, the Senior Ranger will lead a team of rangers based on the Island to ensure delivery of day-to-day management across Naree Budjong Djara National Park (NSI), Teerk Roo Ra National Park (Peel Island) and associated vessel support operations. Both parks are jointly managed under an indigenous joint management framework with the Quandamooka Yoolaburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) representing the Quandamooka people and a substantial proportion of the ranger workforce is indigenous identified.
Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to understand and learn indigenous culture is essential. You will work daily with a cross-cultural, multi-agency ranger workforce, collaborating in service delivery across protected areas and supporting community aspirations throughout Quandamooka Country
This is not an entry level position. Demonstrated leadership and natural resource/land management experience is essential to progressing to the next stage of assessment.
This position is based in Goompi (Dunwich) on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). Accommodation is not provided for this position, however, QPWS will cover the cost of passenger ferry transport from the mainland if the successful applicant is unable to secure accommodation on Minjerribah.
