About Us

Upper Coomera State College is a large Prep to Year 12 college on the northern Gold Coast, providing diverse learning pathways for more than 1,700 students.

The college is committed to inclusive education and works in partnership with families to support student engagement, wellbeing and achievement.

The Special Education Program plays a key role in ensuring students with disability can access, participate and succeed in learning through personalised support, effective adjustments and strong collaborative practices.

About the Role

As the Deputy Principal (Special Education), you will:

  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community through the Special Education Program (SEP) or Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP), developing and promoting a shared educational vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Lead inclusive practices and support improved outcomes for students with disability through a strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, NCCD requirements and barriers to student success.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in support planning for complex students will be highly regarded.
  • Build positive relationships and partnerships with parents, community groups, industry, business and government agencies.
  • Communicate effectively and contribute positively within a high-performing leadership team.
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values-based, ethical and socially just leadership role.
  • Set high expectations for student achievement, staff performance and continuous improvement.
  • Actively engage in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Provide strategic, future-focused leadership and deputise for the Principal when required.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the SEP/ECDP to achieve school priorities and program goals.
