DTET supports Queensland's economic prosperity through workforce development, training, employment and trade initiatives. Our team works with a broad range of data and information, including vocational education and training outcomes, apprenticeships and traineeships, workforce participation, employment trends, industry insights and strategic departmental priorities.
The Data Experience and Design team sits within the Data & Analytics branch of Strategy and Skills Performance. We design and deliver user-centred, engaging, data experiences, products and stories that connect people with information, build confidence and support evidence-informed decision-making across the organisation. We combine visual communication, design thinking and data storytelling to make information more accessible, useful and meaningful for a wide range of audiences - from frontline staff to senior leaders.
This role would suit candidates with backgrounds in visual design, communications, digital content, marketing, user experience, graphic design, data visualisation or related disciplines.
About the role
As the Data Visualisation Officer, you will:
· Design engaging dashboards, reports, presentations, infographics and other visual communication products that accurately help people understand key insights and assist in decision-making.
· Support the development and maintain the visual and narrative style guide for Data & Analytics products, setting the standard for how data is displayed, articulated and delivered across the branch
· Translate complex datasets, research findings and business requirements into clear, accurate and user-friendly visual data experiences and products.

· Demonstrate strong visual communication and data storytelling skills to produce reports, presentations, dashboards and other information products that support evidence-based decision-making.
· Apply design thinking and user-centred principles to create engaging, accessible and effective products that consider audience needs and user experience.
· Build productive relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
