Your contribution: 
As Principal Program Officer, you will be responsible for delivering Environmental Recovery Program/s through the jointly funded Queensland and Australian Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

The DRFA provides financial assistance to help communities, businesses and the environment recover from eligible disaster events.

As part of a supportive team, this position will be leading the design and delivery of an Environmental Recovery Program (Program) relating to Queensland Monsoon Trough, Cyclone Koji, Cyclone Narelle and Severe Weather event (24 December 2025 - 24 April 2026). The Program has an allocation of $10 million (under Category D Exceptional Circumstances) to support rehabilitation and restoration of rain and flood-affected environments in order to maintain healthy ecosystems and other environmental values and improve resilience for future disaster events in the Northern and Central Queensland region.

A key focus of the role will be engagement with stakeholders to develop the program scope and identify potential impactful environmental projects that will deliver holistic outcomes for impacted catchments. The stakeholders will include first nations peoples, government agencies, natural resource management bodies and other internal and external stakeholders.

The other key focus for this Principal Program Officer role will be the administration of the Program, including project assessment, financial considerations, grant and procurement management, evaluation and reporting, communication and governance.
