The role of the Manager is to lead and manage a team responsible for the design, development and continuous improvement of high-quality training programs and learning resources for youth justice staff. This includes overseeing the creation of engaging, evidence-based learning content that aligns with adult learning principles, operational requirements and organisational priorities. The role is responsible for establishing productive partnerships with subject matter experts, operational stakeholders and learning professionals to ensure training solutions meet workforce capability needs, while promoting innovation, quality standards and best practice in training design. The role also provides leadership in the ongoing professional development, performance and management of staff to support the delivery of contemporary, effective and learner-centred training programs.

About the role

The role of the Manager is to lead and manage a team responsible for the design, development and continuous improvement of high-quality training programs and learning resources for youth justice staff. This includes overseeing the creation of engaging, evidence-based learning content that aligns with adult learning principles, operational requirements and organisational priorities. The role is responsible for establishing productive partnerships with subject matter experts, operational stakeholders and learning professionals to ensure training solutions meet workforce capability needs, while promoting innovation, quality standards and best practice in training design. The role also provides leadership in the ongoing professional development, performance and management of staff to support the delivery of contemporary, effective and learner-centred training programs.

Key responsibilities

As Manager, you will specifically:

  • Effectively manage and provide leadership, supervision and support to your team, manage your team's budget, administration and reporting systems, to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products and outcomes.
  • Provide strategic and expert high-level verbal and written advice on issues, evidence and trends that help inform business cases to support investment and initiatives.
  • Provide coordination and support in relation to critical projects as it moves through different lifecycles and work fronts of the project.
  • Oversee and improve project management and implementation activities to facilitate new programs for the branch.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with departmental and external stakeholders to leverage their capabilities and develop business cases to support new program of works in this space.
  • Provide a high level of user support and communication and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure programs are aligned with the strategic direction of the Department, business areas and whole-of-Government meeting organisational capacity and budget requirements.
  • Provide advice on business issues relating to change management as a result of the implementation of, or changes to any programs.
