Join the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) as a Senior Operations Officer (AO5) based in Mackay. In this full-time, temporary role (19 October 2026 – 25 June 2027, with possible extension), you will supervise a small team and work with stakeholders to deliver passenger and school transport services. Some of your responsibilities will include: Supervising a small team and liaising with a range of stakeholders to enable the delivery of passenger and school transport products, systems, and services, Delivering frontline customer service including managing complaints and providing advice to customers and stakeholders on legislation, policy, and operational delivery, Managing the delivery of the School Transport Assistance Scheme at a local level and contribute to the regulation of the passenger transport industry and Monitoring office and data systems to ensure accountability.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Supervising a small team and liaising with a range of stakeholders to enable the delivery of passenger and school transport products, systems, and services.
• Delivering frontline customer service including managing complaints and providing advice to customers and stakeholders on legislation, policy, and operational delivery.
• Managing the delivery of the School Transport Assistance Scheme at a local level and contribute to the regulation of the passenger transport industry.
• Monitoring office and data systems to ensure accountability and sound governance while supporting the team to work within legislative frameworks.
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with industry and stakeholders including proactively contacting service partners in relation to the management and reporting of natural disasters and other emergency situations.
• Monitoring performance under service contracts with particular emphasis on compliance and operational delivery.
