We’re looking for a OO4 Ranger to add to our team of rangers to help care for one of Australia’s most iconic destinations—K’gari (Fraser Island)! Join our team delivering hands-on estate maintenance, asset upkeep, visitor management and environmental conservation projects. From maintaining infrastructure and managing pests, weeds and firebreaks to supporting compliance and natural resource management, every day is different. Work alongside the Butchulla Traditional Owners and key stakeholders while helping protect and enhance this World Heritage-listed island.

In this role, you'll play a key role in driving the protection of one of our most wonderful places.
This role's focus area is based around visitor management, compliance, operation and maintenance of plant and equipment; and asset maintenance such as fences, firebreaks, buildings and visitor infrastructure as well as natural resource management such as fires, pest and weeds. This position will assist with the on-ground delivery of projects and general estate maintenance on K'gari (Fraser Island). You will have regular engagement with stakeholders including the Butchulla traditional owners.
This position is based on K'gari (Fraser Island) where rangers are required to work a 10/4 roster. K'gari is considered a remote location where rangers are required to live on island during their shift. Departmental shared accommodation will be provided for the successful applicants, however travel to other locations on the island may be required from time to time. Daily commuting on a charter air service to and from Hervey Bay may be considered for this position but cannot be guaranteed. Please refer to the attached Working in and Location Guides.
