The Senior Spatial Analyst (PO3) is within the Biodiversity Assessment team, based in Dutton Park.

The team is responsible for the delivery of key state-wide planning tools and assessments through products such as the Biodiversity Planning Assessments, Aquatic Conservation Assessments and habitat suitability mapping. The results from these products are the foundation for the development and implementation of evidence-based programs, policy and legislation across the state.

The position also provides high level spatial support and advice, assisting the team across a range of tasks including database management and development, as well as in fulfilling ad hoc requests for maps, analysis, and spatial statistics.

As the Senior Spatial Analyst you will:
• Provide spatial data analysis and cartography services for internal and external clients.
• Manage complex spatial and non-spatial data.
• Develop biodiversity datasets, including those relevant to terrestrial and aquatic conservation assessments and species habitat models.
• Provide innovative solutions to automate repetitive tasks and processes through the use of GIS and spatial programming tools such as Python and R.
• Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace that is free from bullying, discrimination and harassment.

You must hold a university degree or equivalent majoring in ecology, geography, geospatial science or related conservation discipline or agreed equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution. If your qualification is from an overseas institution, you must apply for official recognition through the Overseas Qualification Unit at the time of application and provide evidence of your application with your resume.
