An exciting permanent opportunity is available for a Surveyor to join the Technical Services unit, North Queensland Region, based in Cairns.

As Surveyor, you will deliver engineering survey projects and provide technical expertise in geospatial applications to support the planning, design, construction and management of the road network.

As Surveyor, you will manage survey projects to ensure services meet objectives across the planning, design, construction and management phases of the road network. You will work with the survey and geospatial team to deliver engineering survey projects, provide technical expertise and consultancy services in geospatial applications, and support compliant, reliable and value-for-money project outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:
• Undertaking and completing engineering survey projects with the survey and geospatial team to meet project scope, quality and timing requirements.
• Delivering specialised survey projects and providing technical expertise and consultancy services in geospatial applications.
• Maintaining effective liaison and communication with internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to survey projects.
• Ensuring operational practices and standards comply with departmental and regional policies, legislation, TMR surveying standards and governance obligations.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• For appointment as a PO1 (Cadet), applicants are required to be studying or enrolled in a Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology majoring in Surveying, or an equivalent qualification acceptable for registration with the Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ).
• For appointment as a PO2 or PO3 Surveyor, a minimum three-year degree from a tertiary institute in Spatial Science (Surveying) will be highly regarded, or an equivalent qualification acceptable for registration as a surveyor/surveying graduate with the SBQ.
• Evidence of the degree or SBQ acceptance must be supplied in writing at the time of interview.
• A current Class C driver licence.
• Pre-employment checks, including a criminal history screening and declaration of serious discipline history, will be required.
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.

Other role information:
• Appointment within classification level PO1-PO3 will depend on age, qualifications and experience.
