The QAS Communications Design & Delivery Unit (CDDU) plans and delivers ICT services to the Queensland Ambulance Service. Your part in the ongoing success of our business in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work.

The occupant of this position will be part of the technical team supporting the CDDU unit based at Hamilton and focused on planning and design activities for communications and data solutions supporting QAS frontline officers, both in Triple Zero (000) centres and operational crews responding to requests for ambulance services from the Queensland community.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

• High-level technical knowledge, understanding and experience in the design, development and maintenance of communications systems that will support the strategic direction of a large, complex, frontline environment
• Demonstrated experience and skills in planning complex and varied technical projects, including analysis, specification, risk identification and comprehensive documentation, in line with legislative and policy requirements, established processes and methodologies
• A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in communications systems and data solutions environments, with proven ability to proactively coordinate, schedule and plan systems development, maintenance or improvement activities to meet critical requirements
• High-level technical expertise in communications systems, with ability to provide specialist technical leadership and guidance to internal and external support units and to review and approve technical documents
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to effectively engage with, collaborate, support and be a trusted advisor to a range of stakeholders, including technical delivery staff and contractors
• Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to manage, interpret and monitor data and reporting mechanisms to identify trends/issues and drive performance improvement
• Ability to collaborate, develop and deliver effective technical system training and training documentation, to build capability and ensure a high standard of practice and governance

Mandatory/Special conditions/Other requirements

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

• Associate Diploma in Electronics/Communications Engineering or equivalent qualification with a minimum of five (5) years industry equivalent experience.
• Applicable Australian Communications Media Agency licences or a commitment to obtain the appropriate licences.
• Completion of post-trades training in electronics to enable the jobholder to research and apply new techniques to moderately complex technical problems.
• Current C class drivers' licence.
• Whilst not mandatory, awareness of PRINCE 2 or contemporary project management methodologies will be highly regarded.
• Experience with the design and/or specification of frontline communications technologies and systems such as DC and UPS distribution, dispatch consoles, console furniture and fit-out, computer aided dispatch, datacomms, structured and block cabling, contact centre design/build, CCTV & AV, equipment racking, voice recording, and LMR & DMR will be well regarded.
