Role overview

This role is located within Arts Property and Facilities, Arts Queensland and will be focused on the coordinates and delivery of capital infrastructure projects to address the ageing infrastructure and renewal of building assets and systems within Queensland Cultural Centre (QCC).

As a Principal Project Officer you will ensure completion in accordance with required timeframes, cost, quality and service standards and work directly with clients, service providers, contractors and consultants, to oversee multiple-disciplinary complex building projects from the planning and pre-design phase to practical completion.

Principal Project Officers may work in other areas of the division and their primary focus is to coordinate the delivery of specific projects, activities and tasks as part of the approved program of work.

The Principal Project Officer reports to the Program Manager, Critical Infrastructure, Arts Property and Facilities. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of project delivery including initial planning, design, and construction and commissioning of multiple complex projects ranging in value from $500,000 to $10,000,000 within a legislative and contractual framework.
  • Contribute to and act as an effective member of Project Control Groups and/ or other committees and management groups as required.
  • Lead and report against projects within the Capital Infrastructure Works Program, including and meeting deadlines, cost, quality and service standards and coordinating processes relevant to project implementation.
  • Act as "Principal or Contract Representative" for the delivery contracts, as defined and delegated at respective development/implementation phases.
  • Prepare and present oral and written reports, defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate levels of management and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development of communication plans, financial, procurement and administrative correspondence including project governance documents and departmental letters and briefing notes.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor positive working relationships with clients, stakeholders and contractor(s) and consultants.
  • Resolve conflicts within and between projects or other service and functional areas; develop methods to monitor and progress project outcomes.
  • Maintain existing projects, updates and upgrades and communicate changes to stakeholders.

You will report to the Program Manager – Critical Infrastructure
