Medical Officer with Right to Private Practice

An opportunity exists to maintain selected skills at the Theodore Multi-Purpose Health Service, and it is intended that the Medical Officer Private Practice will use this opportunity to maximise his or her professional development as part of this appointment.

The Medical Officer Private Practice (MOPP) will be responsible for working with the Medical Superintendent Private Practice (MSPP) to provide safe, efficient quality medical services to inpatients and outpatients of the Theodore Multi-Purpose Health Service including the provision of 24-hour emergency department coverage.

About us:

The Theodore Multi-Purpose Health Service is a 10-bed, 26-staff facility that provides medical, surgical, paediatric, antenatal/postnatal/women's health, accident and emergency, palliative care, radiography, and pharmacy services. Visiting services include Drug and Alcohol and Child Health Services. Allied Health services include visiting physiotherapy, speech and occupational therapy, and radiography.

About the role:

  • Provide clinical services to patients of the hospital and private practice in accordance with the credentials and clinical privileges process and within the clinical service capability framework including accident and emergency response, general practice medicine and primary health care services.
  • Participate in the documentation and benchmarking of clinical indicators with appropriate practice benchmarks and address any anomalies identified.
  • Provide high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the capacity to consult, negotiate and resolve conflict; to build and maintain productive working relationships and provide effective leadership.
  • Support the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion and illness prevention programs.
  • Ensure a high quality and cost efficient clinical practice through participation in the development and maintenance of quality enhancement and improvement strategies including participation in peer review, clinical audits, clinical coding, the use of evidence based treatment protocols and guidelines and high quality clinical documentation.

About you:

MBBS and hold general registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Must be a current registered trainee with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $264,544 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $182,106 - $193,468 p.a.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
