About us:
Emerald Hospital provides a range of hospital and visiting specialist services to the Emerald and Central Highlands region. Emerald Hospital supports services at the Capella Primary Health Clinic and the Gemfields Primary Health Clinic.
Our vision, outlined in our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy1 is for Emerald Hospital to be the Central Highlands hub for emergency, maternity, diagnostic and some surgical services. We will invest in Telehealth technology to provide local access to services wherever possible.
About the role:
- Undertake administrative support tasks and functions for a variety of departments, ensuring effective day to day operations are maintained, demonstrating initiative, flexibility, self-direction and independence in the absence of direct supervision.
- Demonstrate knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of a large number of specialised PC based systems (HBCIS, S4Hana, EDIS, WINC, RMS, UMS, Patient Flow Manager, Microsoft Office suite).
- Carry out general clerical duties such as but not limited to answering telephones/switchboard queries in a professional manner, filing, word processing, data entry and maintaining records including medical records, banking and mailing.
- Maintain and update accurate computer records, admissions, update Medicare card details, discharges, Department of Veteran Affairs and patient health fund information in line with Health Information, Privacy and Confidentiality procedures.
- Make appointments, reschedule appointments, confirm and BAS clinics as requested.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of consumers and with staff at all levels, including clinical, medical, administrative and management, always demonstrating professionalism and a positive service focus.
About you:
- Mandatory qualification/s: Nil
- Shift work: Appointees may be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- Licence to operate vehicle: This role may require the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
- Vaccine Preventable Diseases: It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment Health Employment Directive No. 01/16.

Salary information:
- An hourly rate between $47.74 - $53.09 p.h. (includes 25% casual loading)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements:
It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.
