The Principal Project Officer responsibilities include:
- Manage projects that deliver the priorities of the Brighter Futures Education Strategy and government commitments in Mathematics and Numeracy.
- Develop capability, resource and assessment packages to support implementation of Australian Curriculum version 9: Mathematics
- Design and deliver innovative learning and assessment design, in STEM curriculum areas to meet the teaching needs across the state
- Provide educational expertise and undertake research investigations to guide and inform the development of learning and teaching initiatives.
- Support emerging STEM projects delivered through the Queensland Virtual Academy and Education Futures Institute.
- Monitor data and impact, evaluate for continual improvement, and take responsibility for governance, correspondence and reporting obligations of the department.
- Create and foster partnerships across industry, government and education organisations to support schools to prepare students to participate in a rapidly changing world.
The ideal candidate will have:
- The ability to think creatively about current challenges and opportunities, and partner with colleagues to develop solutions, encouraging creative capacity in others to optimise outcomes for students and teachers
- Deep knowledge of Australian Curriculum: Mathematics, preferably across primary phases of learning
- Personal drive and integrity to lead projects and work autonomously with the ability to prioritise work to manage competing and emerging priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills, digital literacy and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement
- Experience designing, delivering and leading professional development and/or training related to best practices and pedagogy.
- Experience working on complex projects to achieve required outcomes within set timeframes and on budget.
