About us:

The Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (ECRA) is responsible for regulating the early childhood education and care sector (ECEC). ECRA supports approved providers of education and care services to meet their legal responsibilities by providing information and advice but also takes regulatory action as necessary when requirements are not met. ECRA operates a well-established risk-based approach to early childhood regulation called Regulating for Quality and is committed to building a culture of continuous quality improvement in regulatory practice. This role is within our Regulatory Assurance and Systems team which is responsible for the systems, tools, data and insights that underpin ECRA's operations and continuous improvement efforts. This team leads the review of assessment and rating decisions and guides proactive regulatory activities, which are the primary focus of this role.

Your opportunity:

To be successful in this role, you will have attention to detail, be able to manage competing priorities and plan ahead. You will exercise professional judgement and lead others to achieve results.

In this position, you play an integral role in leading initiatives to support and enhance regulatory practice with a particular focus on the monitoring and assessment and rating functions of ECRA. A key function of this role involves conducting reviews of quality rating decisions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capability in:

  • Administrative decision-making, ensuring decisions are evidence-based, transparent and aligned with regulatory policy
  • Driving change and improving business processes to enhance efficiency, consistency and regulatory impact
  • Taking initiative and anticipating opportunities for improvement by applying a systems-enabled and solutions‑focused mindset to deliver practical, high‑quality outcomes
  • Applying advanced analytical and evaluative skills to identify root causes, interpret complex information to inform defensible, evidence‑based decision‑making
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to understand issues, explore options and co-design practical, effective solutions
  • Upholding a strong commitment to child safety, inclusive practice, and continuous improvement.
