The Central Highlands region in Central Queensland is home to the thirteen unique communities of Arcadia Valley, Bauhinia, Blackwater, Bluff, Capella, Comet, Dingo, Duaringa, Emerald, Rolleston, Sapphire Gemfields, Springsure and Tieri. The region is rich in minerals and agriculture even containing the largest sapphire-producing fields in the Southern Hemisphere.
Best-known as the Coal Capital of Queensland, Blackwater was established as a community for miners and their families. It is a vibrant town that is perfectly situated for those keen to explore the trails, lookouts and camping hotspots of Central Queensland. It is just 55km from the stunning Blackdown Tableland National Park and 25km from the fishing, boating and camping hub Bedford Weir.

Applicants for these positions must possess:

- Employment for pre-service/graduate teachers will be subject to the successful completion of a relevant teaching qualification and meeting the minimum requirements as a teacher with the department.
- Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
