About the Role:

As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the effective and efficient operation of our science department. Reporting to the Principal or a nominated delegate, you will work independently to provide technical and administrative support to teachers and laboratory staff.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Preparing, distributing, and setting up scientific materials, equipment, and chemical solutions for practical teaching and laboratory use.
  • Maintaining a safe and organised laboratory environment, including waste disposal and equipment calibration.
  • Providing quality advice and support to teaching staff on practical work and STEM initiatives.
  • Assisting with field trip preparations, inventory management, and budget administration for the science department.
  • Networking with external organisations and maintaining laboratory protocols and records.

This role would suit individuals who are passionate about science education, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, and are committed to supporting student learning outcomes.

Highly desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience in laboratory operations, including handling and preparing chemical solutions.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a laboratory setting.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to support teaching staff and students.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to supporting STEM initiatives and student engagement.
