We are seeking an inspiring and experienced Head f Department Mathematics/Science to lead, develop, and champion excellence in teaching and learning across the department. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, support and mentor staff, and drive curriculum innovation to ensure outstanding student outcomes.

This is a temporary part-time position (0.5FTE or 25 hours per fortnight) until 26 June 2026, unless otherwise determined. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educational leader to shape the academic vision of the department and make a meaningful impact within a dynamic school community.

About the Role:

In this role you will be responsible for the curriculum delivery of Year 7 Mathematics and Science.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Provide strategic leadership to develop and sustain a shared departmental vision that delivers high-quality, equitable learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just, inclusive practices while setting and maintaining high standards of performance for both students and staff.
  • Lead and manage human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources effectively to achieve departmental goals and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong partnerships with students, parents, community groups, and relevant government agencies to support student learning and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate futures-focused leadership through ongoing professional learning and a strong understanding of educational legislation, policies, and compliance requirements.
