We are seeking the best suited applicant to join our friendly hard-working team for a fixed term of three months part time. This role as Phlebotomist would be based at the Caboolture Laboratory, collecting blood from inpatients and outpatients. Caboolture Laboratory is part of The Prince Charles Hospital Group of laboratories which includes The Prince Charles, Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals

Whilst the primary work location is at Caboolture Hospital, movement between sites may be required and will be undertaken with appropriate consultation.
Liaise with patients, medical and non-medical staff in a professional manner to ensure correct collection and processing of specimens and efficient operation of the specimen collection department.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen collection/phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of the importance of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
- Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues
- Positive focus upon patient care within a hospital health care environment.
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not Mandatory a relevant qualification such as a Certificate 3 or 4 in Phlebotomy would be well regarded.
- This position requires the incumbent to participate in rosters that may include day shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime as required. It is anticipated that service delivery will be continually optimised so there may be future changes to roster requirements.
- A current “C” class licence.
