What's involved – You will have clinical, operational, and professional oversight of medical service delivery within the Longreach Hospital and outreach sites. This includes ensuring medical services are high performing and contribute to a learning health service that actively pursues opportunities for efficiency and improvement.

This role is pivotal in advocating for and understanding the health care needs of the community to deliver a patient focused health care service at Longreach Hospital in line with community, departmental and Central West Hospital and Health Service (CWHHS).  The Longreach Hospital is a ‘level 3' facility in accordance with the rural and remote clinical service capability framework. This makes this facility the highest level CSCF in the health service and the largest facility within CWHHS. Longreach Hospital provides the only maternity service within the HHS, and also accommodates a range of visiting surgical.  We want candidates willing to contribute to the development of a cohesive and supportive team environment both locally and as part of the CWHHS ‘single practice'

Role requirements:

  • Advanced Skill in Anaesthetics
  • A relevant post-graduate qualification FRACGP, FACRRM or equivalent for Senior Medical Officer
  • Are on a training pathway leading to FRACGP, FACRRM for Senior Medical Officer (Provisional Fellow)
  • A genuine desire to work at top of scope in acute and general practice settings making a real difference to the lives of remote Queenslanders.
