We are looking for an experienced and dedicated leader to join our Statewide Services team as the Head of Statewide Physical Impairment Services.
In this role, you will lead and develop a state-based vision for curriculum and pedagogy relating to physical impairment, with a focus on promoting a culture of inclusion and supporting schools to deliver equitable and high-
quality outcomes for students with physical impairments.
You will be responsible for developing, determining, and leading the delivery of key priorities for a centralised, borderless statewide service that ensures consistent and effective support for students across Queensland.

Your Opportunity
As the Head of Statewide Physical Impairment Services, you will:
- Lead and develop a state-based vision of curriculum and pedagogy relating to physical impairment to promote a culture of inclusion and practices in schools to ensure equity and excellence for students with a physical impairment.
- Develop, determine and lead the delivery of the key priorities of a borderless and centralised statewide service in relation to students with a physical impairment.
The Head of Statewide Physical Impairment Services reports to the Director, Statewide Services, Reviews, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Schools and Student Support.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Statewide Physical Impairment Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake curriculum leadership and manage a whole-of-state approach to implementing adjustments for students with physical impairments in relation to the Australian Curriculum, specific pedagogies, implementation, assessment, and reporting.
- Develop and implement a range of professional learning programs for Advisory Visiting Teachers (AVTs) - Physical Impairment (PI), including induction processes and capability building to support understanding of the implications of physical impairment for developing effective adjustments.
- Lead collaboration with key stakeholders in implementing guidelines for ways of working in multidisciplinary teams, actively and consistently building strong collegial and collaborative relationships with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and nursing staff both internal and external to the department, with a clear understanding of the educator's role and how it complements these allied health roles.
- Supervise and lead the strategic development, management, and operation of the statewide specialised equipment loans and trial portfolio to ensure the safe and secure use of specialised equipment. This includes delivering a borderless service and chairing the statewide advisory group to promote ongoing regional collaboration.
