We are seeking an organised, capable and community-minded Business Manager to support the Principal and contribute to the smooth and effective operation of our school.

You will be a proactive, organised and approachable professional who enjoys variety and working closely with people. You will bring strong administrative and financial skills, initiative, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will be willing to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team, taking pride in supporting the school community and delivering responsive, high-quality service to students, staff and families.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.60FTE), 43.50 hours per fortnight.

Goombungee State School is a school of around 80 students, located north of Toowoomba. Your opportunity:

This is a varied role where you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact across finance, human resources, administration, facilities and school operations. Working closely with the Principal, staff, students and families, you will manage priorities, solve problems and provide practical solutions that support the school community.

As the Business Manager you will be responsible for the effective and efficient administrative management of the school by providing corporate services and administrative support to the Principal.

You will work within well-defined guidelines to provide advice and offer solutions to key stakeholders (external and internal) on business related problems (e.g. human resources, finance and facilities management), and have responsibility for autonomously delivering on priorities, seeking expert advice, adapting processes, problem solving and providing solutions according to clear outcomes, with regular guidance by the Principal.

Goombungee State School engages with the Toowoomba North Provincial Cluster of schools for collaborative professional learning opportunities, sharing of practice and interschool moderation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day administration, records, reception and OneSchool systems.
  • Support finance, including budgeting, Accounts Payable/Receivable, banking, reconciliations and debt collection.
  • Supervise school support staff, including timesheets, leave, rosters, recruitment and induction.
  • Coordinate facilities, assets, maintenance and minor works.
  • Prepare newsletters, reports, correspondence and school documents.
  • Coordinate technology and equipment support.
  • Manage competing priorities and provide practical solutions to operational issues.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, students, families and community stakeholders.
  • Ensure services comply with departmental policies, legislation and procedures.
