We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Principal to provide strong, values-driven leadership and champion high-quality teaching, learning and student outcomes.

Working alongside staff, students, families and the wider community, you will strengthen a positive and inclusive school culture where everyone is supported to achieve their best. We are looking for a collaborative and confident educational leader who can drive quality teaching and learning, build strong relationships and deliver positive outcomes for students, supported by strategic thinking, sound resource management and values-based leadership.

Mena Creek State School is a small, welcoming school in the lush Far North Queensland setting, offering Prep to Year 6 students a supportive multi-age learning environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their potential. The school focuses on high-quality, personalised teaching, strong family and community partnerships, and collaborative professional practice through the Canecutter small schools cluster. With excellent facilities and a hands-on approach to learning, Mena Creek provides an engaging environment where students can learn, grow and thrive.

Your opportunity:

  • Deliver the vision of the department
  • Improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.
  • This role is available from 7 September 2026 to 11 December 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the school community in delivering the Department of Education's vision and priorities.
  • Drive improved student achievement and educational outcomes.
  • Strengthen the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Promote high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and ethical school culture.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, families, community, industry and government partners.
  • Provide strategic and future-focused leadership.
  • Manage human, financial and physical resources effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and departmental requirements.
  • Champion professional learning and continuous improvement.
