The Alcohol and Other Drugs Service are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join their team. Alcohol and Other Drugs (AODS) is focused on developing and providing innovative solutions to reduce the harmful impact of alcohol and drug use. AODS has two community teams based in Southport and Palm Beach which offer triage, assessment, support, case management, individual counselling, groups, opioid replacement treatment, and outpatient detox. The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapist (Alcohol and Other Drugs) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 9000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region.
You will take responsibility for
- Delivering Occupational Therapy (OT) clinical services within a multidisciplinary team in accordance within prescribed professional and ethical standards
- Utilising OT clinical skills when engaging in the core services provided by AODS including intake, assessments, case management, group programs, opiate treatment program, community engagement and as experience builds educational sessions to key stakeholders and more complex AOD presentations
- Participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of evidence based group treatment programs for clients that promote recovery and improve consumer outcomes
- Developing clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the multidisciplinary team and by engaging in professional development activities and contribute to professional development opportunities for supervisees and other staff as required
Requirements for the role
- It is a condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B
- The possession of a tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA) is a requirement for this role
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a government vehicle and an appropriate Licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required

Salary information
- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $72 189 - $99 875 per annum
- Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
